Aeolian Safari
A five-day hike around the Aeolian Island of Salina in Sicily, climbing both its twin volcanic peaks, traversing Malvasia vineyards and exotic sea-and-landscapes, and ending each walk with a dip in the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Itinerary
Day 1/ Arrival in Salina
Arrival in Rinella on Salina island. Dinner at a local trattoria. Overnight in Rinella at Hotel L’Ariana.
Day 2/ Rinella to Pollara
From the town of Leni we follow a footpath climbing to Pizzo Corvo, with stunning vistas. We then descend through an ancient volcanic caldera to the hamlet of Pollara and its impressive bay. Dinner and overnight in Pollara at Hotel Locanda Del Postino.
Day 3/ Pollara to Malfa
Our ascent of the northern flank of Monte dei Porri (weather permitting) takes us to the summit at 860m above sea level, with wide-ranging views of the archipelago and the Sicilian mainland. We descend steeply via a volcanic footpath down the eastern flank to Valdichiesa and Malfa, where we stay for two nights.
Day 4/ Full day at leisure in Malfa
Full day at leisure to enjoy the comforts of the hotel, explore Malfa town independently, or relax on the beach. Optional excursions to one of the other Aeolian Islands can be arranged upon request.
Day 5/ Malfa to Santa Marina
From Malfa we climb the wooded northern face of Monte Fossa delle Felci (weather permitting), the highest point in the Aeolian Islands (960m above sea level). The afternoon's walk descends to the town of Santa Marina.
Day 6/ Departure
Departure and onward travel.
