Bhutan Safari
An eleven-day trip exploring the world’s last Buddhist kingdom, combining walks in a variety of stunning Himalayan landscapes with cultural immersion in Bhutan’s unique traditions and spiritual heritage. We go east-to-west from Bumthang to Paro via Phobjikha and Punakha, including a stay at Ugyen Choling Heritage House and a night in Bumdra Camp. Along the way we visit ancient Buddhist temples, rural villages and local farmhouses, a Tschechu festival, and hike to the iconic Tiger’s Nest Monastery.

Itinerary
Day 1/ Arrival in Bhutan
Arrival flight into Paro International Airport. Hike to Zuri Dzong. Overnight in Paro.
Day 2/ Bumthang
Morning flight to Jakar. Bumthang Valley temple-to-temple hike.
Day 3/ Ugyen Choling
Tang Valley hike to Ugyen Choling Heritage House.
Day 4/ Thowadrak Goempa
Hike to Thowadrak Goempa, a remote cliff-side temple.
Day 5/ Phobjikha Valley
Drive to Phobjikha Valley via the Pele-La Pass. Evening walk along the Gangtey nature trail.
Day 6/ Phobjikha Valley
Full-day hike in the Phobjikha Valley.
Day 7/ Punakha
Transfer to Punakha and afternoon hike along the Pochu River.
Day 8/ Talo Tshechu
Morning visit to Talo village Tshechu festival. Punakha Dzong visit. Afternoon Mochu River hike to the Queen's Temple.
Day 9/ Lunchutse Temple
Transfer to Dochu-La Pass and hike to Lunchutse Temple. Overnight in Paro.
Day 10/ Bumdra
Full-day hike up to Bumdra Monastery. Overnight in Bumdra Campsite.
Day 11/ Taktsang Monastery
Hike to the iconic Tiger's Nest Monastery. Overnight in Paro.
Day 12/ Paro
Departing flight from Paro International Airport and onward travel.
