












Aspromonte Safari
A four-day hike into the Calabrian unknown: from the high hills of the Aspromonte Grecanica, via bergamot-groves, Greek-speaking ghost towns and the Amendolea Valley, down to the Ionian Sea.

Itinerary
Day 1/ Arrival in Calabria
Afternoon arrival in Calabria. Dinner and overnight in Pentedattilo.
Day 2/ Roghudi to Bova
Morning transfer to Roghudi. We cross the fiumara and walk up and along a high ridge with superb views. We descend to Bova, the most vibrant town of the Grecanic area. Overnight in “Albergo diffuso” rooms and apartments.
Day 3/ Bova to Amendolea
Morning to explore Bova, then walk from Bova to Amendolea village, where we stay for two nights. Late afternoon stroll to the ruins of Amendolea Castle.
Day 4/ Galliciano circular walk
Full day circular walk to Galliciano, one of the last strongholds of Calabro-Greek culture. The morning's route climbs through fields and orchards, followed by lunch and a cultural visit in Gallliciano. In the afternoon we descend back to the riverbed (weather permitting) and walk home through a vale of oleanders.
Day 5 / Amendolea to the sea
Optional morning walk from Amendolea to the coast, with opportunity for swimming in the Ionian Sea. Departure and onwards transfers.
